By August 2019, by way of institutional data analysis, the Online Learning Office will determine baseline course completion rates, by term and by year, for the following comparative student groups: fully online students vs. partially online students; minority online students vs. non minority online students; full-time online students vs. part-time online students; online students under the age of 22 vs. online students 22 and over.
By August 2020, by way of targeted academic and non-academic supports and structures, the online course completion rates for each comparison group will change by a statistically significant percentage, as evidence by institutional course completion analyses.
The Online Learning Specialist has been working with IR office staff to further develop the Argos data block for the office. Currently, staff have student attributes like age and online course taking patterns (fully online vs. partially online) in place, with the ability to sort and filter by these variables further. Additional work is needed to include students’ race/ethnicity in the data block.
In the coming months, office staff will begin capturing course completion rates for various student groups for comparison purposes. Results from these comparison analyses will be reviewed and checked for accuracy.
The Online Learning Specialist continues developing the Argos data-block to allow for more cross-comparisons of course outcomes between different student groups. The ratio of students course enrollments (i.e. the % of F2F courses Vs. % of online courses) and race/ethnicity data is now available in the data-block, along with other demographic variables stated in the POA goal (i.e. enrollment status, gender, age).
Initial comparisons of the online course outcome data will occur when the the fall 2018 grades are finalized and available.
The Online Learning Specialist continued developing the Argos data-block to allow for more cross-comparisons of course outcomes between different student groups. Some of the data in the data block needed to be recreated, but it seems that all necessary data is now included and valid. July and August will be used to create baseline comparisons between the student groups referenced in the goal.
All objectives associated with year 1 of this 2 year goal have been successful met. Baseline comparisons between student groups were established in July 2019, which will inform targeted online student group outreach efforts in the fall 19 semester.
