a) By August 31, 2020, as a result of consulting with appropriate experts both on and off campus, librarians will evaluate (and make decisions about additions and subtractions) from its existing collection of Science of Teaching and Learning literature.
b) By August 31, 2020, in keeping with best practices of library science, librarians will work with at least one academic program to assess the contents of the physical collection to make decisions about adding and subtracting titles and content.
November 2019
– Worked with Gary Glaser, Professor of Biology, to increase inventory of Anatomy & Physiology select bone sets available on reserve;
– Reviewed overcrowded legal print collection with assistance of Karyn Bryson and made changes accordingly;
– Added materials to support other programs & collections:
– Best Center
– Mindfulness
– Global Education.
February 2020
– Perkins instructional resources in support of 19/20 focus areas CRJ and VET were acquired in January after NYS approval;
– To enhance diversity in our Children’s Literature collections, Youth Award winners from the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (apala) Awards for Literature will now be acquired annually and noted in the Children’s Literature LibGuide (LIT203);
– Licensing for new streaming films were acquired to support Hybrid and Online Music courses as requested by Jen Sisbarro.
June 2020
The closure of the physical campus obviated our efforts to assess the physical collection and budget constraints made improving the SoTL materials almost impossible, but we were able to pivot and improve our collections in other ways.
– Addition of online resources to support anatomy & physiology classes (VisibleBody) through extensive work by the collection development librarian & lms administrator. Instructions were also created by the systems & electronic services librarian to assist students with using the mobile app version of this resource.
– Libguide to connect students, faculty, and staff to resource already available through the GCC library as well as those being made available free of charge by multiple vendors.
