Build upon current international and alumni from marginalized backgrounds to support on-campus activities and engage international alumni to increase recruitment, retention and completion of underrepresented student populations
Four alumni from marginalized backgrounds spoke to over 50 attendees at the New York City Alumni Dinner in October. These four alumni were from Jamaica, Japan, Harlem and Haiti. The Jamaican alumnus also attended the SUNY Welcome Center’s Admissions recruiting event and provided testimony about his success and support from Genesee. The aluma from Harlem has been an active alumni volunteer for Genesee the past year and has been cultivating relationships with our “Young Alumni Division” as a new development. A meeting with alumni, Paula Savage and Roberta Terbuska, regarding the rejuvenation of the International Peace Garden has resulted in planning ways to engage students and staff to support our international students and future alumni.
