By August 2020 the athletic department will increase their involvement in the local community. Each team will be asked to come up with one community service event per year which will increase our presence & reputation in the community.

Three out of the eleven teams have completed their community service events.

Seven of our eleven teams completed eleven different community service events.
– Casa School Supplies CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) serves children that have been removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect. Genesee has been a proud partner in providing these children with School Supplies (as well as holiday gifts and shoes), for over 20 years!
– Andie Carpenter Cup- Genesee Community College soccer programs play North Country Community College in memory of Andie Mae Carpenter, who suddenly passed away in January 2020. Andie was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a disease that weakens the connective tissues of the body. EDS also can weaken blood vessels and organs and no cure has been found.

– Women in Sport Day- The National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) is an annual day of observance held during the first week of February to acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes, recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honor the progress and continuing struggle for equality for women in
– Free Clinics – Basketball, softball
– Futures program- Genesee baseball hosted the US Baseball Academy at the Richard C Call Arena. The camp saw over 160 young, future baseball stars participate. The camp involved players from throughout the Genesee community aged 8-18 and at all different levels.

We lost a few months (COVID) of this year where were were slated to do a few more community service events. The events that we did host had a very positive impact on the community. From many of the events we saw more attendance at our home games and people wanted to be a part of Genesee!
Next year we will continue this goal.
